The Swiben KFD-05 is a compact benchtop freeze dryer built for small-batch lyophilization in laboratory settings. It combines a low-temperature condenser with vacuum drying to remove moisture from samples through sublimation.
The unit provides a 0.51 m² drying area across five trays and a 5 kg water catch capacity, making it suited to small sample volumes. Its drying temperature range of -35 to +60°C and condenser temperature down to -60°C support a variety of freeze-drying workflows.
This model is intended for labs processing samples such as cannabis flower, hash, and extract formulations at small scale.
The KFD-05 freezes the sample and applies vacuum (≤5 Pa under no load) while the condenser, operating at temperatures down to -60°C, captures water vapor. Under these conditions, frozen moisture sublimates directly from solid to vapor, drying the material without passing through a liquid phase.
