A liquid mixture in the 20L boiling flask is heated by the magnetic stirring mantle while the system is held under vacuum (0.098 MPa). Components evaporate based on differences in volatility, travel a short path through the distillation head, and condense for collection in the receiving flask. The cold trap protects the vacuum line by capturing residual vapors. Operating under reduced pressure lowers the required heating temperature, which is useful for heat-sensitive compounds.
