1 / 12The MTST FMD-060 is a short-path molecular distillation system designed for separating thermally sensitive liquids by differences in molecular mean free path rather than conventional boiling-point distillation. It features a 0.06 m² effective evaporation area and a 60 mm barrel diameter.
The unit supports continuous operation with a 1 L feeding funnel, a feed rate of 250–500 g/h, and 1 L flasks for both distillate and recycle collection. A 90 W motor drives the wiper assembly at 0–500 rpm, and the system operates at temperatures up to 200 °C.
It is intended for laboratory and pilot-scale fractionation and purification work where low operating pressures and short residence times are required.
Feed enters the heated evaporator where a rotating wiper spreads it into a thin film across the barrel wall. Under vacuum, volatile molecules travel a short distance to an internal condenser and are collected as distillate, while the heavier residue is directed to the recycle flask. Separation is governed by the differing mean free paths of the component molecules rather than their boiling points.
