This is a customized glass fractional distillation unit built around a fractionating column. Fractional distillation separates and purifies the components of a liquid mixture by exploiting differences in boiling point, making it suitable for solvents, chemicals, natural products, petroleum, biodiesel, and crude oil.
The fractionating column allows repeated vaporization and condensation along its length, which improves separation when component boiling points are close together. Operated in batch mode, the system lets the user collect distinct fractions as they come over.
